My unapologetic and brutally honest take on writing

So, you want to become a writer?

7 ways to be a successful writer.

Things I wish I knew before I started writing.

You must have come across such articles on Medium and other blogs when you first decided to start your writing journey and started actively looking for advice to help you become a successful writer. I am no different. Even I did.

But more than demystifying the whole process, I got muddled with different opinions and lost track of why I started writing in the first place.

Let me first tell you why I started writing on Medium

I loved writing right from my childhood. I would pester my…

Is it something universal or just a human construct for our convenience?

Yesterday, I was discussing with my wife about Karma and luck, and if she believes in God. She said that she is an atheist but believes that if she doesn’t harm anyone then no harm will be done unto her. In other words, she believes in the proverb that ‘Life is fair’ as long as she is righteous and honest. That put me in a thinking mode.

I think sayings such as, everything happens for a reason, or, there is something good hidden in everything that happens, or, I won’t suffer because I have not hurt anyone, are in vogue…

My take on Mental Health and what we can do about it

During depression, you don’t feel like leaving your bed

We have learnt in our schools that the signals from all our sensory organs go to the brain and are interpreted by it. So, the brain is like the C.P.U in our body, controlling all the other organs in our body.

Mental well-being is one aspect that drives all the other aspects of our life. Only if we are mentally fit can we be physically fit and only if we are mentally strong can we be emotionally strong. Therefore, I would like to drive home the importance of mental health with the following analogy:

Just like the most important part…

In this ever-changing technological landscape where we are seeing new disruptive technologies emerging by the day, we have yet another blogging platform called Scrollstack, which is specifically founded keeping Indian creators in mind. Some of you might have heard of it but I am sure most of you, like me, were unaware of this platform. You must also be wondering why another platform and how is it different from the rest.

In this article, I am going to answer some of the most common questions, which are as follows:

  • What is Scrollstack and how is it different from other blogging…

What meditation is not and how to practice a simple guided meditation

How to meditate?

The two terms- Mindfulness and Meditation- have been in vogue lately. You take up any self-help or spiritual book, these are the most talked about topics and often interchangeably. There are a lot of misconceptions and misunderstandings revolving around these two terms.

In this article, I will try my best to introduce these two terms to the explorer who has just started on the journey to self-improvement or to find oneself.

What is Mindfulness?

If I have to describe it in a single sentence then Mindfulness is the ability to see things as they really are, that is to say to see with…

How this magical place changed me

Remember when you were four or five and used to paint and sketch? I vividly do. I would usually draw mountains cascading and the sun rising behind one of those and one hut in front of the mountains and green grass and flowers all around the house and a stream of water originating from the footsteps of the mountains and flowing down.

At that time, I didn’t know that I would be so lucky to get a chance to live at such a place. But as luck would have it, there was a vacancy in my office for a position…

And lift the weight of guilt and shame off my shoulders

Photo by Fernando @cferdo on Unsplash

It is almost 5 years today since I first started taking medication for a mental illness that was diagnosed at that time (later it was found to be one aspect of the whole illness).

I remember my parents were so shushed about it and came up with all kinds of different physical ailments to tell the society, which included relatives, neighbors, etc. because it was clearly visible to everyone that something was wrong with me.

And following in their footsteps, I came up with novel diseases every time I submitted my medical leave application to my employer.

It went on…

The more I chase it the farther it gets away from me

The most simple and most used terms like Happiness, Ego, Light, I, Love, etc. are the most difficult to describe and explain in words. It can just be felt.

In the article, allow me to talk about happiness.

As a kid, were we worried about what happiness means? How to be happy? Things to do or achieve to become happy? No!

We were simply happy without being aware of the what, how, why aspect.

These days, a photographer says if I capture the perfect Milky Way backdrop with the snow-clad mountains in front then I will be happy. And a…

Please open your eyes and help us do the same

Dear Parents,

We didn’t tell you or demand you to give us birth.

We didn’t tell you or demand you to make so many sacrifices or compromises. If I am not wrong, you did it out of your love for us, didn’t you?

And you probably gave us birth out of your own free will, if you believe in such a thing, or due to societal obligations, or your parents forced you or your thinking forced you but we certainly didn’t.

So, you can not possibly expect us to return the ‘favor’ because you loved us without expecting anything in…

What is CloutPub and how is it different from other blogging platforms?

You are a writer and you want to connect with your loving readers, right?

And you want no pimp (read algorithm and curators) to meddle in between. You want unfiltered access to the audience and let the audience decide what they want to read.

You tried Medium, you tried your own blog. But, nonetheless, you have to change your writing style to cater to either the crawlers or algos. In order to stay relevant and discoverable, you start to create mediocre content.

But fret no more! These will be the tales of a bygone era.

I am going to introduce…
